Ah, the holiday season – a time of joy, celebration, and sometimes, a bit of chaos! As we enter the Holiday weekend I feel inspired to reflect on some tips (and share them too) that will help ensure a Happy and Healthy Holiday!
Stay Active: Just because Santas coming to town doesn’t mean our routine has to go out the window! Incorporate some physical activity into your day, whether it’s a winter walk with the family, or a quick morning workout before the busy days, exercise can boost your mood and energy levels.
Finding Balance: Amidst the tempting array of holiday feasts and festive treats, finding balance with food becomes a gentle art worth mastering. While the season encourages indulgence, it’s essential to approach meals with mindfulness and moderation. Savor the seasonal delights without guilt, relishing in the flavors and traditions that make the holidays special! But also incorporate a colorful array of fruits and vegetables into your plate to nourish your body with wholesome goodness. It certainly doesn’t have to be one or the other! Creating balance allows you to have the best of both worlds.
The Art of Saying ‘No’ and Setting Boundaries: The holiday season often comes with a barrage of invitations and commitments. Remember, it’s okay to say ‘no’ and set boundaries. Prioritize your well-being and choose events and activities that align with your values and bring you joy. Quality over quantity, always. You don’t have to run around town to enjoy your holiday.. most often the most fulfilling moments happen cozied up in our own home with the people you love. Especially if you had the pleasure of buying a new home this year; soak in new traditions in your new space!
Technology Timeouts: (This ones hard for me, too!) In a world buzzing with notifications, take intentional breaks from technology. Put down your phone, step away from the screens, and be present with your loved ones. Engaging in face-to-face conversations and savoring the moments without digital distractions will give us those memories that are stored in the heart forever, not just on our camera roll!
And the most wonderful tip of all! Presence as the Best Present: As cliché as it may sound, the adage holds true – presence is indeed the best present. In a world that often values material gifts, the gift of your undivided attention, genuine connection, and shared experiences creates lasting memories that go beyond the holiday season. Storytell, laugh, play games, and have a really, really good time!
I hope you find some of these reminders helpful. By finding balance, embracing mindful moments, and recognizing that presence is the ultimate gift, we can navigate the holidays with a sense of joy, gratitude, and overall well-being! Happy, Healthy Holidays everyone!
